A Cup of Magic: Roastery Tours and a Magic Show at the Brooklyn Navy Yard Open House
Saturday, October 17, 2026 · 12:30 to 4:30 PM · Free sessions every 20 minutes
Every fall, the Brooklyn Navy Yard throws open its gates for its Annual Open House, and every year it's one of our favorite days on the calendar. For one Saturday, the neighbors, coffee lovers, and curious passersby who drink our coffee all year get to step inside and see where it actually comes from.
This year, we're adding a little sleight of hand.
Welcome to A Cup of Magic
On Saturday, October 17, we're hosting A Cup of Magic: a free roastery tour paired with a live magic show. Sessions kick off every 20 minutes from 12:30 to 4:30 PM, so you can catch one on your way through the Yard.
Here's what to expect:
- A roastery tour. Walk the floor, see (and smell) where green coffee becomes the beans in your morning cup, and ask our team anything about how we source and roast.
- A magic show. Then the lights go up on Matias of Fun Corporate Magic for a quick, close-range set of illusions and mind reading that's built to get the whole room involved.
-
It's free. Here's how to get in:
- Reserve your free Open House slot with the Brooklyn Navy Yard ahead of time.
- Once you arrive at the Open House, sign up on-site for a Cup of Magic session. Spots are first come, first served, so stop by early if you have a time in mind.

Meet the Magician: Matias of Fun Corporate Magic
Matias Letelier is a Chilean-American illusionist and mentalist, and the founder of Fun Corporate Magic. He's been performing for more than 25 years, and his shows mix sleight of hand, mentalism, comedy, and some very friendly pickpocketing.
You may not have seen him at a coffee roastery before, but you might have seen him at work: Matias has performed for teams at companies like Google, Amazon, Red Bull, IBM, and BMW. When he isn't traveling for corporate and private events, he holds a residency at Speakeasy Magick in New York. He performs in English, Spanish, Portuguese, and French, and he's known for a charming accent and shows where the audience is part of the act.
One of his specialties is building tricks around the people (and products) in the room. We'll let you find out what that means for a roasting facility full of coffee.
Keep an Eye Out: More Magic May Be Brewing
We had too much fun planning this one to want it to be a one-time thing. We're already trading ideas with Matias about what else we could do together, so consider this the first trick, not the whole act.
Nothing's on the calendar just yet, but if you're there Saturday, ask our team what we're dreaming up. And keep an eye on our newsletter and Instagram, because when there's news, you'll hear it there first.

A Decade in the Navy Yard
Brooklyn Roasting Company started in 2009 with a simple goal: give New York great, sustainably sourced coffee, roasted with care and served without pretension. We like to say we're serious but not snobby, practical not pretentious, accessible not exclusive. That attitude comes straight from the borough we grew up in.
For about a decade now, our production home has been the historic Brooklyn Navy Yard, on the East River waterfront. Our roastery lives in Building 102, a former industrial power plant built in 1899, with sixty-foot ceilings and brick walls two feet thick. It was also the first LEED-certified building in the Yard. It's a remarkable place to come to work every day, and we never get tired of showing it off.
From here, we roast for hundreds of cafes, restaurants, and offices across the five boroughs, plus everyone who orders from us online.

Why We Open Our Doors
Being a Brooklyn company isn't just our name. It's the whole point.
The Navy Yard has been a place where Brooklyn makes things for more than two centuries, and we're proud to be one small part of that story. We get to work alongside artists, makers, distillers, and manufacturers who share the same stubborn belief that you can still build something real right here in the city. Our neighbors in the Yard, our wholesale partners down the street, and the regulars who've been with us since the early days are the reason we're still here.
So once a year, when the Navy Yard opens its gates, we like to return the favor. The Open House is our chance to say thank you: to show you the roasters, introduce you to the people behind your coffee, and share a cup with the community that's supported us all along. This year, we just happen to be pulling a few surprises out of a top hat, too.
