Ethiopian natural-process coffees are among the most flavorful in the world. They are also known as sun-dried coffees, and tend to have fruitier, more surprising flavors than their washed counterparts.
Sundried on raised beds for up to 17 days, this coffee comes to us from the Durame Village of Kembata, Ethiopia. At 2100 meters above sea level, the soil is extremely fertile and ideal for growing high quality coffee beans. These natural coffee beans express eye-popping florals and fruity notes, resulting in a medium-bodied cup.
The resulting coffee is an extremely complex, well rounded cup marked with notes of blueberry and sweet citrus. We roast these beans on the lighter side, imparting just enough roast to bring out its more subtle floral notes.

Cupping Coffee Is at the Center of Our Craft
Coffee is the seed of a tropical evergreen shrub. Growers around the world harvest and process a wide range of coffee varietals grown under widely different conditions. The genetics of the plant and the "origin terroir” greatly contribute to the character of the coffee you wind up tasting in the cup. At the Brooklyn Roasting Company we search out the world’s finest coffees and expertly roast them to tease out their many colorful characters. Our coffee team is constantly evaluating the coffees we source (or consider sourcing). At the outset, we measure the moisture content of incoming “green” and then sample roast these lots to determine the optimal profile for each coffee on a larger, commercial scale. We cup each sample roast on rotating stone tables equipped with circulating hot water baths, and a thick, tempered glass surface that floats on zany 1960’s superballs and hula hoops. This playful, colorful backdrop to cupping and assessing coffee–the core of our craft– is a constant reminder to appreciate and unlock the flavors and aromas that characterize the extraordinary beans we buy. Taken together with our “Color of Coffee” tasting approach, this crucial quality control step typifies our “serious but not snobby” approach.

The Ethiopia natural has been my go-to light roast lately. I love the brightness and notes of berry in these beans. A happy way to start my day.
I don't know if I like it because I've not received it after 16 postal days. 2 emails to the company with no response. I've ordered before so very disappointed.
Loving the ground bag for cold brew
It took two weeks to get here. It stayed at the local UPS facility for 11 days. For no reason I could see.

This particular bean is truly outstanding. It's complex in a way that I haven't experienced with other Ethiopian beans, despite trying a number of other roasters. If I could only drink one coffee again it would definitely be this one, because it's interesting and on the lighter side.

It's my best favorite bean in here for hand dripping. Decent price and flavor. It has took long time to find out best aroma and thickness. Much better to cut in less than 2 min for pouring over time. This fast brewing makes less bitter and more sweetness. Thank you BRC to provide me this coffee in good price always!

The best Ethiopian beans out there. I tried many Ethiopian beans out there in the market from micro roasters to popular brands sold on markets and coffee shops. This one is by far the most consistent and best tasting light roast out there. It's like drinking a black tea with blueberries and some hints of flowers. I buy 5 lb bags just for myself. Iced also taste great!
